Sometimes you have to perform a difficult piece that is hard for you to place on the stage. For whatever reason its to emotional, its hitting way to many nerves....your nerves.

The music haunts you, you dream it...its in your head while you drive.

I didn't really want to perform this music, it was hitting to close to some sensitive nerves for me.

But I needed to do it, it was a key to some emotional growth that I was going threw at the time.....

Choreographing the piece made me angry, I was a complete jerk to my family while I was working with this piece. I wanted to scrap this dance so many times.

Then I discovered that Kami Liddle, had also danced to this piece last year. The ladies in Barcelona nearly got a frantic last minute email to change my music.....
But I knew I couldn't.

This piece has been performed twice, and I will never place it on the stage ever again. Nor will I teach it. It was a relief to be done with it, and to allow something to rest deep inside of me.........finally.

Looking back at the video....I really thought it was a very bad performance that I placed on the Tribal Umrah stage....but now I can look at it with a more gentle heart....and honor this particular process.

This weeks Armchair Expert is featuring the troupe The Amano Project. A collective of dancers from the Netherlands and Belgium headed up by the very talented Tjrada of the Uzume. The troupe is a fairly young troupe only coming up to its 1 year anniversary. Members include....Joyce Benschop, Mattias lauwers, Fieke Dieleman, Stephanie der Zwaal and Tjarda van Straten.

The style is modern bellydance....at the very cutting edge of fusion bellydance. I'm a huge fan due to the fact of the troupes amazing music interpretation, interesting lines and formations, and lovely simple clear bellydance movement executed in a very creative way. Exactly what this genre is all about!

The troupe has the unique ability to create frames or pictures that can capture a moment in time....and the story of that moment is up to you to create. Gorgeous!!

I'm trying to stay on top of my projects!!! gah!! there are so many of them.....so to make sure I kick my own butt....I created this feature...Secret Craft Moment...

really its just to help me stay motivated.

Soooooo....if you see anything I do here that you wanna ask questions about feel free to do so...I'll try to give a you clear answer:)))

Ok last week I was out and about with my friend Emily, and we popped into a designer jewellery shop that had these gorgeous big beaded necklaces on display. So we were oooooooing and awwwwwwwweing at this beauties, when my friend Emily tried one on. I could tell she was in love, but I had to give her the look. Ya know the look....don't you dare buy that!! we can make it!!! like seriously the necklace was well over 200 euros. The price tag was the only thing that made her wince, I could see her considering forsaking her children's university fund, for the necklace.

But yeah us!!! we found a very cute beading store here, where I live in Ulm, Germany. With the idea in mind to create a huge "pebbles" necklace for way way less........heres what I made....


so cute right...and you should be proud....its not bellydancer inspired in any way...I know shocking. But hey cute I can wear it with everything!! And did I mention way way way less than that silly store. I forgot to take a picture of my friend Emily's creation...I'll pester her the next time she is around....

But I'm so behind on posting my creations, I made these while I was on vacation in Croatia...

This weeks secret feature is going out to Tribal Fest Budapest, and to the event organizer, Judit Virag.


This years event will be held in Budapest, Hungary November 11-13th 2011


Special workshop teacher for the festival will be none other than the fabulous Samantha Emanuel!

I believe Judit is also trying something new this year.....a type of workshop slam....were several teachers will teach 30 minute workshop slams on a group of students. Its a cool concept that will get students to try out some varied styles in a very short space of time!

Of course there is the show!! which will be on November 11th....as well as a Tribal Fusion Dance competition that will be held during this jammed packed weekend!
The show will feature local talents from Hungary, but also the amazing dance talents of

Alexis Southhall (England)
Eliran (Israel)
Violet Scrap (Italy)
Martina Crowe Hewett(CA/D)
plus many other fabulous performers
